A bastion would normally have a ditch in front, the opposite side of which would be built up above the natural level then slope away gradually. The height of towers, although making them difficult to scale, also made them easy for artillery to destroy. Bastions are lower than towers and are normally of similar height to the adjacent curtain wall. These ideas were further developed and incorporated into the trace italienne forts by Sébastien Le Prestre de Vauban, that remained in use during the Napoleonic Wars.įurther information: Bastion fort Aerial photograph of Neuf-Brisach, a fortress in use during the Napoleonic Warsīastions differ from medieval towers in a number of respects. To augment this change they placed v-shaped outworks known as ravelins in front of the bastions and curtain walls to protect them from direct artillery fire. The resulting construction was called a bolwerk. ĭuring the Eighty Years War (1568–1648) Dutch military engineers developed the concepts further by lengthening the faces and shortening the curtain walls of the bastions. This was exemplified by the campaigns of Charles VII of France who reduced the towns and castles held by the English during the latter stages of the Hundred Years War, and by the fall of Constantinople in 1453 to the large cannon of the Turkish army. As military architecture, the bastion is one element in the style of fortification dominant from the mid 16th to mid 19th centuries.Įvolution One of the semi-circular bastions at Deal Castle, a Device Fort on the south coast of Englandīy the middle of the 15th century, artillery pieces had become powerful enough to make the traditional medieval round tower and curtain wall obsolete. Compared with the medieval fortified towers they replaced, bastion fortifications offered a greater degree of passive resistance and more scope for ranged defence in the age of gunpowder artillery. The fully developed bastion consists of two faces and two flanks, with fire from the flanks being able to protect the curtain wall and the adjacent bastions. Drawing of a bastionĪ bastion or bulwark is a structure projecting outward from the curtain wall of a fortification, most commonly angular in shape and positioned at the corners of the fort.

At the end of the 19th century, the archtop mandolin was one of the first instruments with courses of doubled strings designed in the United States. Pictures such as the 1901 Mexican Typical Orchestra at the Pan-American Exposition show a guitar with 12 strings. The most likely ancestors using courses of doubled strings are some Mexican instruments of Spanish ancestry such as the bandolón, the guitarra séptima, the guitarra quinta huapanguera, and the bajo sexto. The origin of the modern 12-string guitar is not clear, but it arose in the closing years of the 19th Century. Pete Seeger described the distinctive sound of the 12-string guitar as "the clanging of bells." Origin and history The interference between the out-of-phase vibrations produces a phenomenon known as a beat that results in a periodic rise and fall of intensity that is, in music, often considered pleasing to the ear. The result to the ear is a sound that seems to "shimmer", which some describe as resembling strings that are slightly detuned. The double ranks of strings of the 12-string guitar produce a shimmering effect, because even the strings tuned in unison can never vibrate with precise simultaneity-that is, they vibrate out of phase. However, the acoustic type is more common. Twelve-string guitars are made in both acoustic and electric forms. The fretting scale is generally shorter to reduce the overall string tension. The body is also reinforced, and built with a stronger structure, to withstand the higher tension. The added tension of the six additional strings necessitates stronger reinforcement of the neck. The headstock is elongated to accommodate 12 tuning machines.Structurally, 12-string guitars, especially those built before 1970, differ from six-string guitars in the following ways: The 12-string guitar can be played like a 6-string guitar as players still use the same notes, chords and guitar techniques like a standard 6-string guitar, but advanced techniques might be tough as players need to play or pluck two strings simultaneously. The sound, particularly on acoustic instruments, is fuller and more harmonically resonant than six-string instruments. The neck is wider, to accommodate the extra strings, and is similar to the width of a classical guitar neck. The gap between the strings within each dual-string course is narrow, and the strings of each course are fretted and plucked as a single unit. Typically, the strings of the lower four courses are tuned in octaves, with those of the upper two courses tuned in unison. For guitars with more than six separate strings, see Classical guitar with additional strings.Īn acoustic 12-string guitar hand-crafted in 1977Ī twelve-string guitar (or 12-string guitar) is a steel-string guitar with 12 strings in six courses, which produces a thicker, more ringing tone than a standard six-string guitar. Supercell also addressed the ongoing issues with the Bandit and Fisherman. Additionally, the next major content update, which will feature more than just card balance changes, is aimed for April 2022. The first balance changes are slated to come in February, with additional changes planned for April, June, August, October and December 2022. This allows us to get enough data to make informed decisions and enables the team to work on other features. In an effort to combat this, Supercell is reducing the amount of time in between balance changes to every two months. It doesn’t take long for players to discover new metas and soon enough they figure out the most powerful cards and customize their decks around those. Currently, Supercell releases balance changes every three months, but they agree with players that this is too long of a wait in between. Perhaps the biggest change coming in 2022, however, is the rate at which Supercell will release balance changes. Right now, it’s pretty barebones in what you can choose beyond towers, emotes, and card upgrades. Overall, it’s a pretty vague roadmap for the new year, but I like the idea of more customization options. Those are in addition to quality of life improvements. The most prominent ones are adding more ways to progress and more rewards to earn, more customization and personalization options, and improvements to current features. Overall, it was a pretty exciting year for Clash Royale.īut as we turn the calendar page to 2022, Supercell has outlined their major goals for the new year. There were other adjustments along with those, including reduced upgrade costs, Magic Items to help with progression, new types of Chests and more. 2021 saw many changes to Clash Royale, the most notable being the introduction of Champions along with a new level 14 for cards. If you are looking for the mod list, keep scrolling down. There are some "Mod laucher" around the net, download them if you want but keep in mind that you do not need them to run the mods. Now that the mod is in the mods folder, you can run Battlefield 2, get in "Community" then "Custom Games", there you go, your mod(s) should be there, and so are the DLCs, simple as that. The folder levels is where you put custom maps you've downloaded, in the base game, most of the custom maps works, "most of" which means every custom maps should work as long as it was made for the base game, custom maps for the base game or made for other mods may or may not work with other mods. The folder of the mod should be named, for example Forgotten Hope 2 folder is called "fh2", in it, you have common and objects files plus the folders such as settings, levels, etc. Once there, you should see a folder called mods if not then create it. Yours may be located in another drive and another folder. For example, mine is in: K:\SteamLibrary\ steamapps\common\Battlefield 2 Locate the folder of where Battlefield 2 is installed. I think this was the only game I've ever played My favourite game of all time. We'll start off with installing a mod, most of the mods comes in a folder in either a zip, a rar or a 7z file, some can be made into an executable (.exe), if you have downloaded the mod on Moddb, it should be fine, look at the comment and the reviews to see if it is all right to download the mod, as far as i know, they're all good, i've tried them all during the years and no one has infested my computer, that's for Battlefield 2. It has the most content out of all of the Battlefield series and it's definitely the most fun. With over 30 maps with 3 variations each (90 maps, technically) and hundreds of weapons, vehicles, players and mods you really can't find a better pseudo-realistic war game than this one. I think this was the only game I've ever played to really balance realistic and not realistic perfectly, it has a realistic chain of command and getting medals and promotions, as well as slightly realistic physics, but you can also get into a car and drive up an exploding ramp and then jump out the side and parachute to safety. The game definitely feels the best out of all of the Battlefield games. As soon as you boot it up you just feel like you have complete control over everything, and you feel like it's your fault that your dying when you do die because of how good the controls are. As said before, there are loads of vehicles, and most maps have an aircraft carrier for the USMC. The Aircraft Carrier always has helicopters and jets on it, but this isn't like Battlefield 3 where every jet and helicopter are almost exactly the same, these jets have strengths and weaknesses. Say there was a two seater jet that could drop 15 bombs and had 4 miniguns, it would fly very slowly and wouldn't be very agile. Say there was a one seater jet with no bombs and like 2 machine guns, it would fly very quickly and would be extremely agile. Lots of people all around the world still play this game all the time, but sadly, the modding community kinda died out. But, that doesn't mean you can't play these mods, because this game has bots, and the bots in this game are very smart. If you play vanilla Battlefield 2 you will be greeted to a screen that tells you that you can only have 16 bots on each map, that's fine, you need to get BF2ALL64. This mod allows you to play BF2 with 64 bots in 64 player maps in co-op and single player. Imagine discussing a charge on your mobile phone bill via online chat. The exceptions to this rule may include the C/D variants which can only be stunned through particularly heavy weaponry such as Takemikazuchi, the charge and release slashes of Salamandra, or the use of their corresponding Punish Attacks. Accolade D's shield can only be broken through with a particular strong attack or through using Witch Time, making them difficult enemies to deal with when trying to maintain a good combo score. Both types are incredibly hard to stun, with Accolade C having the potential to deal the most damage through its hammer swings.
